Almost everyone experiences some form of stress from time to time. While small amounts of stress can motivate us, too much stress or prolonged periods of stress can become hard to cope with both physically and mentally.

What is Stress?

Stress is an innate reaction that goes back as far as caveman days. When we deal with threatening situations, it causes our brains to release a range of ‘stress chemicals’. These chemicals include cortisol and adrenaline that provoke what is known as the fight-or-flight reaction.

What Causes Stress?

There are many experiences in life that can cause stress. The most common things that cause stress can including work, relationships, family issues and financial problems. Some of us can adopt unhealthy methods of coping such as smoking, binge eating and  drinking. These are often quick fixes that can help for a short period of time.
